About us
Our Aims and What We Stand For
The following is an extract from the statement of Aims of the Humanities Association (Hums). 'Humanities is about people: how people create the world they live in; how the world they live in makes them the people they are. Humanities education recognises and explicitly acknowledges the human basis of the learning experience. The Humanities Association aims to provide an independent forum for debate about major issues in all aspects of Humanities education'.

The Humanities Association has played an active role in the consultation process with the Specialist Schools Trust (SST) regarding the creation of 'Humanities Colleges and in the consultation with QCA on changes to the key stage 4 curriculum. We have also responded positively to the DfES draft proposals regarding 'The Core Principles' for teaching and learning. These consultations have highlighted a need to again reflect on the question - What is Humanities?
(
